A Piece of Native American History on Etsy

I recently had the pleasure of redesigning the shop CowgirlsnIndians, a shop specializing in authentic Native American jewelry and handpainted textiles and received a history lesson in the process!

Shop owner and designer Jody lives in the sovereign nation of the Taos Pueblo in New Mexico, which was inducted into the World Heritage Society as one of the most significant cultural landmarks in the world (it shares this title with other locations such as the Taj Mahal, Great Pyramids and the Grand Canyon to name a few). Historians calculate that the Pueblo is nearly 1000 years old, with specific portions having been constructed between 1000 and 1450 A.D. and it thought to be one of the oldest continuously inhabited communities in the United States.

Jody is one of many local artisians preserving the Taos culture and traditions through her art. I know if you stop by her shop, you'll fall in love with her beautiful jewelry, just as I did.

  1. Interesting post. I'll have to check out her shop. Nice blog, too.
